But the deciding factor wasn’t the task-it was time. In the end, fewer than half the students stopped to help. I recently finishing reading the book, The ONE Thing by Gary Keller and Jay. Gary Keller, co-founder of Keller Williams Realty and a best-selling author, overcame his own issues about focus, which makes his claims about cultivating. I am the first to admit that I am a ONE thing. The One Thing is, in my opinion, the most important productivity book ever written (big call, I know). This book is a revelation that has spurned into a podcast and an online community. ![]() What the students didn’t know was that researchers had planted a man along the way-slumped on the ground, coughing, apparently in distress. The text is well-executed with summary bullet points at the end of each. The lowdown: The One Thing by Gary Keller is like a to-do-list on steroids. ![]() Within each group, some were told they were late and had to hurry to their destination, while others were told they could take their time. ![]() ![]() Some were told they were going to prepare a talk about seminary jobs the others, that they were going to give a talk about the Parable of the Good Samaritan, a Biblical story about helping people in need. These students were recruited and divided into two groups to see what factors influenced whether or not they would help a stranger in distress. ![]()
